Most launch problems aren't about the design. A checkout that was never tested, an inbox nobody reads, or a missing refund page tends to surface the day real customers show up. The Linkedd LLC back office runs six businesses with one founder, so every launch goes through the same short pre-launch list. It covers seven areas.
1. Domain
- Confirm who the domain is registered to and that the renewal is on a card or account that won't lapse.
- Decide which version of the address is the main one, and make the others point to it.
2. DNS
- Write down every DNS record you add, and why.
- After any change, load the site and send a test email to make sure both still work.
3. Payments
- Run a real test purchase from start to finish, including the receipt email.
- Check that the price, renewal terms and cancellation path shown at checkout match what your pages say.
4. Email
- Make sure the contact address on the site goes to an inbox someone checks.
- Send a message from the site's contact form and confirm it arrives.
5. Legal pages
- Publish the pages your business needs, such as privacy, terms, cookies, accessibility and refund policies, and link them from the footer.
- Keep the business name, address and phone the same on every page. See How to Keep Your Name, Address and Phone Consistent Across Multiple DBAs.
6. Analytics
- Confirm analytics records a visit before launch day, not after.
- Decide in advance which few numbers you'll actually look at each week.
7. Refunds
- Write the refund rule in plain language before the first sale.
- Make sure the refund process in your policy is one you can actually carry out.
Get the checklist as a file
The launch checklist is one part of the Portfolio Operator OS, the system one founder uses to run six businesses:
- Portfolio dashboard: a one-page view of every business, with status, the next action, money in and out this week, and what's blocked
- Weekly attention plan: a Monday worksheet for deciding which business gets your hours this week
- What-broke log: what broke, what it cost, the fix, and how to stop it happening again
- Launch checklist: domain, DNS, payments, email, legal pages, analytics and refunds
It works in Google Sheets or Excel, with printable PDFs. It costs $39 once, or it's free with an annual membership. It's an operating system, not a get-rich plan, and it isn't meant for buying or flipping businesses.
